TCL 85QM7K: 85-inch QD-Mini LED Google TV
The TCL 85QM7K is a 85-inch class 4K smart TV with a 144Hz native panel, 4 HDMI inputs and Google TV. Its viewable screen measures 84.6 inches diagonally. Quantum dot color is paired with Mini LED backlighting and local dimming.
Picture technology and 4K detail
The QD-Mini LED system controls light in separate areas of the screen, helping bright objects and darker backgrounds appear within the same image. TCL's Halo Control System coordinates the backlight and picture processing. The panel resolution is 3840 x 2160. A native 4K source can show fine textures, small objects and text across the screen, while lower-resolution sources depend more on the TV's processing and the quality of the recording. The TCL AIPQ PRO Processor handles image processing. It can refine the incoming picture, but it cannot recover every detail absent from a low-quality source. This model uses the CrystGlow HVA Panel.
HDR formats and film viewing
Supported HDR formats include HDR10, HDR10+, HLG, Dolby Vision, Dolby Vision gaming, Dolby Vision IQ. These let the TV use the brightness and color information carried by compatible programs. HDR support is separate from resolution: a source may be 4K without being HDR, or use an HDR format that needs a compatible player and settings. Choose a supported HDR version of the program when available. Room lighting and the selected picture mode also affect how highlights, dark scenes and color appear on this screen.
Refresh rate and gaming
The native refresh rate for the 85QM7K is 144Hz. Variable refresh rate is supported up to 144hz. Game Accelerator 288 is a separate gaming mode; its refresh figure does not mean native 4K at that rate. Auto Game Mode supports low-latency use with compatible game sources. Motion-processing names should not be read as native panel refresh rates. Similarly, a game source's frame rate is separate from the TV's refresh rate. A console or computer, its cable and the selected input mode must support the signal being sent. This matters when choosing between a high-resolution picture and a faster gaming mode on compatible equipment.
Google TV and streaming
Google TV provides access to compatible streaming apps, including YouTube, Netflix, Prime Video and Disney+, subject to regional and app availability. Internet access and any required subscriptions are needed for those services. Chromecast and Apple AirPlay 2 support compatible casting and screen sharing. The smart interface lets you find programs without connecting a separate streaming player, although an external player can still be used through HDMI. The built-in sound lets you use the TV without adding a soundbar, while the audio outputs provide room to expand the system. Parental controls, an accessible menu system and a sleep timer are included. Closed captions are also supported. Viewing position and daily use
Viewing angle and room lighting can change the image seen from a side seat. The 85-inch class designation describes the screen diagonal, not the cabinet width.
