LG OLED77B4PUA: 77-inch OLED smart TV
The LG OLED77B4PUA combines a 77-inch class screen, 4K resolution and webOS 24 in one TV. This model uses the Alpha 8 AI Processor 4K and has a native refresh rate of 120Hz. Its 4 HDMI inputs let you connect external sources, while built-in smart features provide another way to watch. Its self-lit OLED panel controls light at pixel level.
Screen technology and picture detail
The OLED pixels produce their own light and can switch off individually for black areas of an image. This allows bright objects to sit beside dark backgrounds without a separate backlight behind the panel. The 3840 x 2160 screen resolves fine detail in a native 4K source, such as textures in a film, lettering on a sports graphic or objects in a game. Source quality still matters: low-resolution or heavily compressed video cannot gain all the detail of a native 4K recording. Screen size is measured diagonally, so the 77-inch class designation should be considered separately from the cabinet width listed below.
Processing and HDR
The Alpha 8 AI Processor 4K handles picture processing, with Alpha 8 AI Super Upscaling 4K for lower-resolution sources. Upscaling fits the incoming image to the screen and refines its presentation; it does not change the original recording. Supported HDR formats are Dolby Vision, HDR10, HLG. An HDR film or game must be supplied in a compatible format to use its HDR information. Filmmaker Mode is included for a film-focused presentation. This combination gives you a choice between everyday viewing settings and a more film-focused picture when watching suitable content.
Refresh rate and gaming
The native panel refresh rate is 120Hz. Game Optimizer brings game-related settings together, and Auto Low Latency Mode can switch to a low-latency setting when supported by the connected source. Supported game features also include NVIDIA G-SYNC compatibility and AMD FreeSync compatibility. The console or computer, selected input mode and cable must support the signal you want to use. A game's rendered frame rate and the TV's native panel refresh rate are separate specifications, so a high-refresh display does not make every game run at the same speed.
Smart TV and supported viewing
webOS 24 is built in, with access to compatible TV apps through LG's smart platform. LG Channels is available for supported streamed programming. App selection, available programs and connected services depend on the region and service provider. Internet access, an LG account and separate service subscriptions may be required. The TV's smart interface provides an alternative to using an external streaming player, while the HDMI inputs remain available for sources you already own.
Sound and audio connections
The built-in 2.0 channel speaker system is rated at 20W. Dolby Atmos support is included for compatible audio. Audio return is supported through eARC on HDMI 3. This gives you a route to a compatible external audio system when you want to build on the TV's own speakers. The effect of surround processing depends on the program, listening position and connected equipment. Speaker-channel labels describe the hardware arrangement; virtual audio processing should not be confused with having separate physical speakers around the room.
Ports and wireless connectivity
There are 4 HDMI inputs and 2 USB inputs. Wireless connectivity includes Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.1; an Ethernet input provides a wired network option. An RF input supports a compatible antenna or cable feed, with reception dependent on the signal available at your location.
Dimensions, weight and installation
Without a stand, the OLED77B4PUA measures 67.68 x 38.94 x 2.00 inches in width, height and depth and weighs 50.49 lb. With a compatible stand fitted, the dimensions are 67.68 x 41.61 x 12.56 inches and the weight is 51.81 lb. Measurements are rounded conversions from LG's metric specifications; a stand is not implied to be included. The VESA mounting pattern is 300 x 200 mm. Measure the available surface and cable space before installation. The panel-only depth does not describe the total depth once a stand or wall bracket is fitted.
Everyday controls and room placement
The on-screen menus provide access to the TV's picture and sound settings. When planning the room, consider the height of the screen relative to your main seat and the position of bright windows. Viewing angle and reflected light can affect the image seen from a side seat.
